Review – Nature Republic Tweety BB Cream 2013 Limited Edition

Today is one of those days where I just felt like getting some posts done and out of the way. It has only been in my drafts for a few hours…

When I saw that Nature Republic released a limited edition range I was excited because it featured Tweety. It brought up memories of all the Looney tunes shows that I watched in my childhood. Combining the two made me pop on line in search of it and into my shopping basket immediately.

Nature Republic Tweety Pact SPF 20 PA +++ 2013 Limited Edition <Rant>

I also purchased the Nature Republic Tweety Pact SPF 20+++with the Nature Republic Tweety BB cream but I haven’t opened it up because I have been trying to finish using all my other powders up before opening. I have also been hesitant to try the pact because it contains mineral oil (I remember my face oiling up from the Skin 79 pact which contained mineral oil and breaking out even though it was near the end of the list of ingredients) so don’t expect a review on it (I may give it to someone who can tolerate mineral oil). I find the case cute but a little tacky with the cheap plastic feel. So I definitely wont repurchase it.

Last Words: I wasted my money…

EDIT: I took more than two weeks to edit this (more than a month…) because of a minor injury. So here is the long awaited ingredients listing.

Nature Republic Tweety BB Cream SPF 25 PA +++ 2013 Limited Edition

The feel of the BB Cream packaging is alot better – it doesn’t feel like it would be destroyed as soon as I drop it. It is also easy to find in the handbag and will not spill its’ contents all over your items once closed. The BB Cream is rather thin but not runny and disperses quite easily from the tube.

How I use it: When applying this BB Cream it can settle into fine lines and grab onto some dry parts of your face. My first thought was how horrible it looked sinking into fine lines and how obvious and patchy it seemed when I blended it with my fingers. I made sure it didn’t look streaky then applied my loose powder. It made a major difference. I wouldn’t say that the coverage improved but it looked better.

Weight: 35 ml

Positive:

  • Cheap
  • Cute, sturdy packaging
  • Braille on the side where the ingredients are listed (wouldn’t have noticed it if it wasn’t for the text on the other side listing the 7-free formula, Braille, soy ink…
  • English ingredients listing

Negative:

  • Streaky
  • Will not cover blemishes
  • Limited Edition (for people who may really enjoy this product)
  • You need to use a powder to set this
  • The peachy colour does not look natural on me on its own (still better than the grey cast for most BB Creams)

Rating: 2/5

Last words: This isn’t the worst thing I have ever applied to my skin (some of the cover girl foundations I tried in the past looked a lot worse) but I am not exaggerating how awful it looks after application (without powder). A good powder makes all the difference to the final result of this BB Cream. You could say it gives a natural look in the end if you apply a thin enough layer so it won’t cake up. I will only use this when I want to protect my skin from pollution when I go grab groceries rather than using it for when I go to work. Still, it is alot cheaper and lasts longer than the overpriced tinted moisturizers they sell at the supermarket.

EDIT [April 10 2013]: If I oversleep and have no time blend my foundation, I mix an equal amount of the Tweety BB Cream with my MAC Pro Longwear Foundation  and apply with my fingers then set with powder. I  use MAC NC 30 which is a tad darker than my skin and it results in a very close match when mixed with the BB Cream. The MAC formula helps it to adhere better so I can get about 4-6 hours wear after setting with powder (in weather that isn’t humid). If you have the same problems that I do with the way the Nature Republic Tweety BB Cream sits on your skin, I suggest you mix it with a long wearing foundation.
