Review – Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam

During the boxing day sales I decided to head to Myers to pick up more SKII FTE. I walked past the Shiseido counter and saw a stand full of trial sized Shiseido products for $40 which is pretty cheap. Being a cosmetics hoarder I picked up two boxes (1 to test out and 1 to take overseas when I travel) which contained 1 Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Cleansing Foam (75 ml), 1 Shiseido White Lucent Balancing Softener Enriched (100 ml) and 1 Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Protective Emulsion (30 ml).

Shiseido White Lucent Trial Size Cleanser

Directions on package: Work up a rich lather and massage over face. Rinse Thoroughly.

Weight: 75 ml (net) trial size

Ingredients: I threw away the packaging because it came in a big box with trial sized versions of other products and I didn’t feel like storing it anywhere. I’m sure it could be found elsewhere on the internet.

How I use this: I really disliked using this cleanser when I first tried it out. Foaming it up with my hands makes it unpleasant for me to use, so I decided to try using a foaming net. It foams up so well that I only use a FAT pea sized amount and it produces enough foam to cover my face and neck and found it less drying that way. I also use this with The Face Shop (or other brand) Konjac Jelly/Cleansing Puff which I find to be the most moisturising method for this cleanser. I think this product would work best for people who use cleansing oils as well.

Positive:

  • Does not break me out
  • Lasts for a few months (I’ve used this for more than 3 months and I have at least another 1 and a half to 2 months worth left)
  • No strong scent (but if you’re at the counter and are sensitive to scents ask to test it out)
  • Sleek, simple packaging

Negative:

  • Expensive for the full size
  • Can be slightly drying
  • Does not remove makeup
  • Needs to be used with a cleansing puff or foaming net

Rating: 3/5

Last words: I wanted to absolutely love this (because I have a weakness for Japanese products). I would not be devastated if this was discontinued, but if they reformulated and upgraded it, I would surely try it out. I might pick up a full sized one if I decide to buy some make up at the counter, although I think that there are better and cheaper Japanese cleansers on the market.
