Review – [Secret Key] Secret Kiss Face Glow CC Cushion SPF 50+ PA+++

When I first saw the Secret Key’s Secret Kiss CC Cushion, I was really eager to try it out because I love the Hera BB Cushion and how lightweight it feels and helps me apply makeup more naturally. So of course I couldn’t resist and purchased it. It was $15.90 USD (I put a lot of items in my cart so I can’t tell you exactly how much it would have been in AUD – its usually a few dollars more with the current exchange rate and after paypal takes a cut)

Weight: 13 g
Made in: Korea

First Impression: The first thing I noticed was that the diameter of the puff is smaller than Amore Pacific. The formula isn’t actually white or pink like some of the pump or squeeze tube CC Creams, it is actually coloured which makes it look more natural when applied. I was pleasantly surprised especially after my experience with other CC Creams that are popular (but I personally don’t like)

Untouched – Secret Key’s “Secret Kiss Face Glow CC Cushion” – but you can see the colour around the edges

Positive

  • Sleek packaging
  • Decent sized mirror
  • SPF 50
  • The puff is similar to Amore Pacific version
  • The formula is not as moist as the Hera BB Cushion
  • Easy to see that the product has not been used (as in the above picture)
  • Natural application – good for everyday
  • Does not break me out

Negative

  • The lid inner lid does not close as tightly as the Amore Pacific versions
  • 1 shade only (currently)
  • Won’t cover acne scars that well
  • Colour can be quite light so I try to sheer it out (Currently MAC NC 20 – 25 (still leaning more to NC 25 )
  • No refills sold online that i can find yet
  • Not good for flash photography
  • For those that want a lot of coverage you will need to use a concealor
  • Not much product
  • For the price of two you could pretty much buy Laneige CC Creams or even the BB Cushions ( just wait for a sale 😉 )

Rating: 3.7/5

Repurchase: Yes (but only if they sell refills)

Last words: I am a cushion lover because I tend to somehow be too heavy handed with BB and CC formulas when I am in a rush. With this I just press down once or twice (depending how much coverage I want) on the cushion and not have to worry about excess product. I find cushion products easy to touch up because they don’t completely set (unless powdered). So much better than the Innisfree CC  because it looks more natural and has a mirror – I now use this when I go to lunch or shopping with a friend rather than relegating it to local grocery shopping as I do with products I don’t really like 🙂 There is a slight glowing effect and looks even when applied. This reapplies pretty well – if you need powder use a VERY light touch of it on the T-zone (or wherever necessary) or it will cake up if you try to reapply on top.

Try this if you want light coverage (evening out redness) or as a base under foundation or BB Cream, but not if you want medium to full coverage (or you can always use a concealor) and keep some blotting sheets with you. I have combination skin and it’s fine for me but I don’t think it will really suit super oily skin (but you can always throw some powder on top to help it last longer)
